LaTeaDa Goodies

Here are a few of our favorite recipes that we would like to share with all of our guests. Our LaTeaDa Cookbook has over 130 recipes, and long awaited cookbook inserts with some of our new recipes has just arrived! We hope you enjoy these goodies as much as we do!

Coconut Pecan Cake

12 oz. box vanilla wafers, crushed 6 eggs 2 cups sugar 2 sticks margarine, softened ½ cup milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup coconut 1 cup chopped pecans Mix together wafers, eggs, sugar, margarine, vanilla, coconut, pecans and milk . Bake in a 9x13 inch baking pan at 300 degrees for an hour. When cool, top with Cool Whip.

Fudge Brownie Pie

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder ¼ cup all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1 stick butter or margarine, melted 2 large eggs, well beaten 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 (9-inch) pie shell, unbaked Makes 6 to 8 servings Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the cocoa powder, flour, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the melted butter; mix well. Stir in the eggs and mix thoroughly. Stir in the vanilla, mix well. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake 30minutes. Cool and serve with a dollop of whipped cream or softened vanilla ice cream.

As we enter into a new year we would like to thank all of our guests for a wonderfully fun and exciting 2006!!  In March we attended the World Tea Expo in Las Vegas, and were thrilled to be selected to give a presentation to over 200 other attendees regarding our experiences operating a tea room.  We started our spring off with many additions to our ever-growing garden area, and began the summer by paving our front parking lot and exit for better access for our guests.  Fall began with a very popular Chocolate Fantasy Tea, and the holidays started with lots of lighted garland, a festive holiday open house, and a special visit from Mrs. Claus.

As you read about some of the upcoming events for 2007 you will notice that some of them say “pre-paid event” on them.  What this means is that when the reservation is placed for the event we will hold your seats with a credit card.  Your card will not be charged until the day of the event, or you may choose to pay by other means that day.  By making the event pre-paid we are hoping to ensure that those who really do want to come to an event are saved a seat.  We typically sell out for our special events, and often have a waiting list; and if a group doesn’t show up at the last minute we are left with both an empty table and other guests who could have attended after all.  We know that sometimes last minute issues or emergencies may occur, and those will always be taken into consideration.  All other cancellations for pre-paid events must be made 48 hrs. before the event.  Our hostesses will be happy to answer any questions about our special pre-paid events.

Whether it is your first time dining with us, or your fiftieth, we hope that every time is a  memorable and enjoyable experience!  Thank you for being part of our dream .

LaTeaDa’s Frequently Asked Questions;

Do I need reservations? YES!!! A large portion of our business comes from outside of Clinton, and we hate to see people drive a distance and then find out that all of our tables are filled. Some days we have seats for walk-ins, other days we may be completely full, and we never know which days will be the busiest. It is always a good idea to call ahead and it is never too early. Some people call to make reservations months ahead of time, and that is just fine with us.

Can men come for lunch?

Of course!! We have men all the time.  Generally the women out number the men, but we have several men that come in weekly and we are seeing many more men venture out with their wives.

Do you just serve little tea sandwiches?

No, LaTeaDa’s menu consists of full size sandwiches served on breads such as croissants, wheat, & cinnamon, sample plates with different varieties of salad, fruits & veggies, soup (except on our summer menu), and we are especially known for our large salads.  We often have daily specials such as quiche, vegetable lasagna, chicken pot pie and broccoli chicken cheddar casserole.  We also like to let our guests know that if there is a certain dessert or special of the day that they would like to have, to request that item when they make reservations and we will do our best to have it that day.

Will I get full eating at LaTeaDa?

If the generous portions served off the lunch menu do not fill you up, the desserts will definitely do the trick.  Desserts change daily at LaTeaDa, and some of the favorites include Grandma Marge’s bread pudding, coconut cream pie, and dark chocolate fudge bundt cake.

Is LaTeaDa a Bed & Breakfast too?

No.  Our second floor houses the LaTeaDa gift shop.  Items found in the gift shop range from teapots, gourmet foods, jewelry, purses, florals, home accents, teas & coffees, and much more.  During the holidays you would also find the gift shop filled with over twenty-five Christmas Trees, all decorated with ornaments available for purchase.  The holidays are our funnest time, we really go all out to make a beautiful setting for our guests.  If you have never made it to LaTeaDa for the Holidays, be sure to drop by this upcoming year and see what we’re all about!

Does LaTeaDa do other stuff besides lunch?

Yes.  LaTeaDa hosts many after hours private events for parties of 25 or more, such as showers, birthday parties and rehearsal dinners.  Catering from LaTeaDa is also available for weddings and other special events held off site for groups of up to 300 people.

Are there other things to do in Clinton after we eat?

Clinton is full of unique shops carrying antiques, home décor, country items, gourmet foods and much more. Our hostess will be glad to point you in the right direction.

Is LaTeaDa open all year?

Yes! We only close down for one week in January to recover from the holiday excitement; otherwise we are open Tuesday thru Saturday every week, except for major holidays.  See our enclosed listing of dates we will be closed in 2007.

Can LaTeaDa accommodate large groups?

LaTeaDa loves to entertain large groups! It may be necessary for us to ask your group to come at a particular time depending on the group size, that days prior reservations, and whether you group will be having any type meeting or presentation. Whenever possible we try to seat our larger groups together, however, we may need to seat you at different tables, but will keep your group as close to one another as possible. Depending on each days scheduling and reservations, groups of 8 or more may be given a group menu to order from. This menu is similar to our daily menu, just a bit smaller and already has tax, gratuity and beverage included in the price. Dessert is always an option (if you have saved room), and because some choose to have dessert and others do not, dessert is not included in the price of the group menu. If you find that your group size has changed after your reservations have been made, just give us a call so we can have the correct amount of tables set up for you.
